The Weld County Fallen Officers Memorial will be dedicated on Monday, June 25th at 9:00 a.m. The memorial is located in Bittersweet Park, 35th avenue and 16th street in Greeley. The public is invited to attend and honor those that have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Seven officers working in Weld County have given their lives serving the community. This memorial is dedicated to that service.

According to a press release from the Weld County Sheriff's Department:

In January of 2011, the Weld County Sheriff’s Office began working in conjunction with the Brownlee family and Greeley City Councilman Rob Casseday to find a location to construct the newly conceived Weld County Fallen Officer Memorial.  As the process developed, the City of Greeley became a partner in the project and a host site for the memorial was provided in Bittersweet Park. With combined efforts of law enforcement agencies such as Greeley PD, Evans PD, Firestone Pd, Colorado State Patrol and other law enforcement agencies throughout Weld County, a non-profit organization was started to begin fund raising efforts to construct a memorial.  The memorial would not have been possible without the generous donations by citizens and corporations. The Weld County Fallen Officer Memorial has now become a reality.

Specific credit for the design, construction, and major financial contributions to the memorial are listed below:

  • Rob Casseday, Greeley City Council:  Architectural design
  • Tom Roche, Roche Constructors: Donation of general contractor services
  • Home Depot: Financial and materials contribution
  • Debbie Dalton, Greeley Monument Works: Centerpiece for the memorial
  • Shannon Murphy, National Law Enforcement Memorial: Financial contributions
  • City of Greeley:  Host site for memorial
