The people who lived on Idlewild Lane in the Big Thompson Canyon are finally getting 'real'
access to their homes after the September floods.  While the damaged bridge that connects their lane to Hwy. 34 has been open, it has been limited to lighter vehicles. That  ruled out propane delivery trucks and
other big trucks.

Tonight U.S. Highway 34 will be closed for six hours so the bridge can be replaced.

The bridge is below Drake, between Viestenz-Smith Park and the site of the former Idylwilde Dam, which was damaged in the flood and has been removed.

A short stretch of the highway will be barricaded from 9 p.m. tonight to 3 a.m.Thursday. The bridge itself will be closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
