There are at least 7 wildfires burning across Colorado right now, including the Big Meadow Fire in Rocky Mountain National Park. Fire danger is extremely high and it will be hot and dry again today over much of our state.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to each and every family affected by all of the fires listed below.

BERGEN ROCK FIRE

The Bergen Rock Fire was at two acres and is now 100 percent contained. All 602 contacts for pre-evacuation notices have been lifted related to this fire, as of Tuesday evening.

BEAVER CREEK FIRE

A fire is burning near Beaver Creek Thursday night. The fire is approximately seven acres and burning on BLM land. The flames are visible from Rifle.

BIG MEADOW FIRE

The Big Meadows fire that broke out Monday afternoon on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park is now at 333 acres, but still no structures or communities are threatened. More than 100 firefighters are working on the blaze that was started by lightning. The fire is burning 5 miles north of Grand Lake. There is 0% containment on the fire.

BLACK FOREST FIRE

The fire burning in the Black Forest that started Tuesday afternoon has now claimed two lives and destroyed at least 379 homes. That is more destroyed homes than in 2012's Waldo Canyon Fire - making it the most destructive fire in state history. The fire is estimated at 15,700 acres as of last night. There is only five percent containment. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

FERN CREEK FIRE

The Fern Creek fire is at 10 acres. It is burning in a very remote area east of Rampart Range. No evacuation or pre-evacuations have been ordered at this time.

KLIKUS FIRE

The Klikus fire burning west of La Veta in Huerfano County is now called 100 percent contained. Tthe size of the fire is revised downward from earlier estimates to a new total of 42 acres.

ROYAL GORGE FIRE

The Royal Gorge Fire, burning west of Canon City, is estimated to have burned 3,162 acres. The fire broke out at about 1 p.m. Tuesday. containment is estimated at 20 percent. The fire has ravaged the 48 of the 52 structures in the Royal Gorge Park and has damaged part of the historic bridge.
