The Largest Land Conservation Gift in the History of Larimer County
With thoughts of riding my horses at this fabulous location, Catherine Roberts, owner of the 16,500-acre Roberts Ranch near Livermore , is offering to give the property to Larimer County. The Loveland Reporter-Herald reports the cattle ranch is already protected from development by two conservation easements, but county ownership could allow for more public access to the property. This protection was part of the larger Laramie Foothills Mountains to Plains Project, a partnership effort that received $11.6 million from Great Outdoors Colorado to protect over 55,000 acres in this area. The county’s Open Lands Board will take up the question of whether to accept the donation at its Jan. 3 meeting and public hearing. Let’s hold a kind thought on this, and we’ll see you ‘on the trail’.
