May 22, 2012 The Hewlett Fire northwest of Fort Collins in the Poudre Canyon was 94 percent contained as of last night. Authorities expect to have the fire fully contained by tonight (Tuesday, 5/22). The U.S. Attorney’s Office says a camper started the fire with an outdoor stove in the Roosevelt National Forest and was unable to stamp it out.
May 18, 2012 The Hewlett Fire northwest of Fort Collins in the Poudre Canyon is now 7,300 acres. Meanwhile, the Larimer County Sheriff's Office has lifted a mandatory evacuation order for 65 homes in the area of Bonner Springs Ranch Road, Deer Valley Road, Obenchain Road, Ingleside Road. The mandatory evacuation for the 15 homes along Highway 14 from the Greyrock Trailhead to the North Poudre diversion dam (approx. mile markers 113 to 115) is still in effect.
