Structurally-Deficient Bridges: Which Ones are YOU Driving On? [PICTURES]

Adam Porter, TSM

With Highway 14 closing down for the next month to have a bridge replaced, it got us thinking: which other bridges on our neck of the woods need some work?  Turns out, there are quite a few…

We found a map from CDOT, pointing out all the structurally-deficient bridges in northern Colorado. Some of them are well on their way to being improved or replaced; others, not so much. The truth is that there are a large number of bridges rated as deficient in our state. Fortunately the Northern Colorado region seemed to have fewer of these structures still in use than many other parts of Colorado.

With all of this being said, you have to wonder if one of them is located on the route you drive every day? Here’s a look at some of the major ones in our area.

There’s the Highway 14 bridge over the Poudre River, near Fort Collins…

…the Highway 66 bridge over the Saint Vrain River, just west of Platteville…

…or how about the Southbound Highway 85 Bypass over the US 85 Business Route in Greeley?
