The other day my wife and I were talking about fun toys we had when were kids. We thought back on metal Slinkys, Etch a Sketches, wood burning kits and Silly Putty. We had some odd toys back when but I love taking a trip back and playing.

Now if you were to look for them today you would never find a wood burning kit. A red hot poker and a chunk of wood has been deemed a bit dangerous these days. I bought a Slinky but it was plastic. What the heck? I was never much of an artist with the Etch a Sketch. I could do a square and that was about it. Silly Putty is still available though and it is the same as it always has been. A little egg filled with a ball of band aid colored goo. I brought mine to work today and made an imprint of local singer Austin Wahlert off of the Greeley Tribune.

I can remember making imprints of coins, bottle caps, comics and one time my hair. I can remember sitting in the back seat of the car on a vacation with a glob of putty in my hair. My mom tried to get it out with peanut butter and then mayo. Neither worked. My head ended up looking like a sandwich. I ended up having to get it cut out. That is probably why I fear mayo and barbers to this day. What toy do you miss from your youth?
