Some of my fondest childhood memories came from Halloween. My mother was very into the holiday and would spend months on end working on great costumes for my sister and I. So when the big day rolled around we would be so excited we could hardly stand it. I always wanted my kids to look back and remember Halloween fondly as well. With all the fun they had last night, I think we succeeded.

Shai, my four-year-old daughter, is at that age where she had her mind made up a long time ago about what she wanted to dress as. Although it changed a couple times along the way, there was no doubt about what she really wanted to be... Batgirl, whatever that may be. Basically a female version of Batman. We decided to make it more bat-like than Batman actually is, but she loved it.

Quinntyn, my one-year-old son, is still too young to care what he dresses as. That is good news because then I get to choose. Thanks to you and everyone else who helped to vote on costumes on the website, we were able to find an idea for his just in time. I set up a poll and had you vote on a few different ideas, but I received four or five emails about a costume I didn't have on my list. A homeless baby. It was so cute, and really so easy, that I fell in love.

I threw on my Paul Stanley from KISS costume, and off we went for some trick-or-treating. Both kids had a blast and got enough candy to last at least until next Halloween. Quinntyn became the neighborhood celebrity, taking a ton of pictures with people who fell in love with his costume, and Shai had a blast being able to stock pile a ton of candy.

When you have kids you can see time fly by. It's nights like last night that I wish they would stay small forever. Remember to enjoy times like that before they are gone.
