Today, news comes out from Texas Senator Ted Cruz who exposed a flaw in a 1200 page bill that would allow the IRS to fine companies $5000 by hiring legal citizens over someone with RPI (Registered Provisional Immigrant) status. How could this possibly be true, honestly.

This story was literally the first thing I saw on my newsfeed this morning from Patrick Amie's page.  It's one of those things that catches your eye and you have to click on the link because you just can't believe the headline to be true. Seriously, what kind of person would basically throw a born and raised American citizen under the bus in his or her own country?  It's unfathomable and just couldn't be possible, but it is a matter of record and fact.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) recently exposed a fatal flaw in a 1200 page bill passed before Congress that would actually allow the IRS to fine American companies for not hiring a registered provisional immigrant over a legal U.S. citizen.  Here's how it happened.  NO ONE READ IT!  Don't believe me, Rand Paul recently scolded Congress (See that video right here) over the very same issue...NO ONE READS THEM, they just vote.  More worried about their lunch date or tee time.

I filed an amendment that would have corrected one of the most egregious aspects of the gang of eight bill as it intersects with Obamacare legislation, namely a penalty imposed on U.S. employers for hiring U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents. This bill says if an employer hires a citizen or a legal immigrant, the IRS can impose a $5,000 penalty on that employer. But if the employer instead hires someone with RPI status, that penalty will go away. That is utterly and completely indefensible - Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)

Cruz also went on to say...

Nobody in this body wants to see African-American unemployment go up. Nobody wants to see Hispanic unemployment go up, youth unemployment go up, union household unemployment go up, legal immigrant unemployment go up. Yet every one of those will happen if this Gang of Eight bill passes without fixing this problem. If that happens, all 100 members of the U.S. Senate will be accountable to our constituents for explaining why we voted to put a federal penalty on hiring U.S. citizens and hiring legal immigrants. I hope this body will choose to pass my amendment and fix this grave defect in the Gang of Eight legislation.

No one on the floor had an answer and avoided the question like the Bubonic plague and the only question I would have at this juncture was who actually wrote this into the bill.  Had it not been for Cruz actually taking the time to sort through 1200 pages it never would have been questioned.  Who wrote the sub-article in the bill, and why?

Bottom line is that our Government is nothing more than "big business" and is run as such.  Any President could also be called a CEO. They work for us lest not us forget.  Most all politicians are in this for the money, fame, career and retirement package and the fact that they don't even have the time to read a bill before they sign it is pathetic at best.  And we put up with it including funding countless vacations for Presidents and family.  Not just our current administration, but all of them.  If Abe Lincoln had spent tax payer dollars on a private vacation I would have been upset with him too.

I can't even afford a vacation for my own family so I hardly think it's fair to fund someone else's.  My father called it common sense.  Now we have elected officials voting on issues that affect you and I and they don't even have time to read them. And you're OK with that? Doesn't it make you wonder what else has been missed over the decades?
