My go to foods when the weather changes from an everyday hot flash to a nice cool arctic splash are simple, stick to your ribs (hopefully not your bottom) dishes. They are usually hearty and easy to get on the table.
Slow Cooker Caramelized Onion Beef Stew Recipe
Snowy Stew to Warm the Soul

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

2-3 lbs of stew meat, flour, season all, garlic powder, pepper, 3-4 carrots, 3-4 medium potatoes, a cup of frozen peas, 4 cups of beef broth (a large can or carton), canola oil and a Tbs of butter

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER:

Pat the meat dry and coat with flour that you have seasoned with season all, garlic powder and pepper. In a large skillet heat enough oil to completely cover the bottom of the pan and add your meat in a couple of handfuls at a time, brown all pieces (you may have to do this in batches) and set on paper towels to drain.

Chop the carrots and potatoes in same size pieces and line the bottom of a slow cooker with them-DO NOT ADD THE PEAS- now put the browned stew meat pieces a top the veggies. Turn the heat back on your pan and add the butter plus about a cup of the broth until all the little bits off the bottom of the pan have loosened. Pour the pan drippings with the broth over your meat, plus the rest of the beef broth. Cook on low while you are at work or running weekend errands, I would put the setting at 8-10 hours, while you are warming bread to go with your Snowy Stew stir in the frozen peas and enjoy!
