Recipe Rescue is a dream child of mine inspired by Charley Barnes. I love to cook, that shouldn't be a secret, but I tease you all the time with a recipe here and there and Charley has challenged me to bring it on. So, I will bring you the best of my best everyday. I will try to keep the recipes easy and with minimal ingredients. Once in awhile I may get a long list of ingredients, but likely only in the case of developing a marinade or seasoning blend that is sodium and sugar controlled. I will post my recipes here and on my Facebook page;                      D Dennison. Today its short ribs, in the crock-pot!

What You'll Need:

5 Quart Crock-pot
2.5-3 pounds short ribs
3 garlic cloves
1 medium onion, diced
1 15oz can diced tomatoes, undrained
1 15oz can low sodium beef broth
1 cup red wine

Putting It Together:

set the crock-pot to low

Brown the short ribs in a small amount of oil, about four minutes on each side. Remove the ribs and place in the crock-pot, add the garlic cloves, peeled and crushed and onion to the pan and deglaze it with the red wine. Once the particles have lifted from the pan pour over the short ribs in the crock-pot. Add the diced tomatoes and broth to the crock-pot. Cover and forget it until dinner time.

Serve with mashed potatoes, buttered noodles or a nice tossed salad.

-if you are short on time, you can add all ingredients to the crock-pot at the same time without browning or deglazing. I prefer it when I have the time to brown the ribs first, but sometimes time is not on my side. Either way, this is still a delicious way to enjoy short ribs.
