Celebrate My Drive and win a private concert with The Band Perry, not a bad deal Northern Colorado. There's still time for you to get your high school on board.

Reading about Celebrate My Drive brought so many emotions to the forefront. I hear about no texting and driving all of the time. I support organizations like Hugs for Alexa in promoting seat belt awareness/wearing. But the biggest thing for me is for drivers to pay attention to the roadway(s).

When we get into a vehicle, when we put our lives fully into such a powerful machine, it is so important to remember that driving that machine is THE number one activity. So often you see people texting, eating, putting on make-up, multi-tasking by eating, smoking and talking on the phone, it's like the actual driving is sitting in the backseat of priorities. In fact, driving is the main event.

Celebrate My Drive powered by State Farm, is a great way to draw attention to all of the important things about driving. And State Farm has a great way to make it fun and interactive. It's a time to celebrate new drivers and good habits like 2N2, two eyes on the road, two hands on the wheel. Plus, your high school can win, as State Farm says, "some epic prizes!"

Up for grabs for the winners of Celebrate My Drive include grants up to one-hundred thousand dollars and a private concert at your school with the Band Perry.

Between October 15-24 2014, you’ll be able to make safe driving commitments for a registered high school. The 100 high schools with the most commitments made can win some pretty amazing prizes, with the two top schools winning grand prize concerts by GRAMMY® Nominated The Band Perry.-Celebrate My Drive

Personal challenge to all Northern Colorado High Schools from D Dennison, as you know, I lost both of my LOBOS to a head-on collision with a semi-truck in June of 2012. Ashley

and Colton Fischer were incredible human beings who loved Rocky Mountain High School, their peers, football, Connections Club, the teachers, the school community and life. I challenge you to commit to driving safely, take the challenge and let's Celebrate My Drive together.

More teens die from car crashes than any other cause and the first year is the most dangerous. My Colton had his license for 5 weeks when he and his sister died.

No one knows what happened that fateful day, but we can be somewhat confident in the fact that they likely were not paying attention. Knowing them, they may have been fighting over the radio, but we'll never really know. The one thing that is for sure, my LOBOS, Ashley and Colton along with a friend traveling with them all died that day.

I can't think of a better way to Celebrate My Driving-keeping teen drivers safe and alive,i it's cause to celebrate. Please register today.
