It seems that the story for Northern Colorado lately has been one of steady growth as the area comes out what was for many individuals and businesses alike has been a brutal recession. This past weekend our area saw the addition of an iconic sportsman's store with Cabelas' grand opening and last night the brand new Mercedees-Benz of Loveland celebrated its entrance to the area as well.

If you have driven down I-25 lately, you have probably noticed that what once was the Ferrario Dodge dealership near Crossroads Boulevard in Loveland has been going through a major transformation. The location was under construction for almost nine months as it underwent renovations to become a beautiful new, state of the art, Mercedes-Benz dealership. This lead to the soft opening of the store on Saturday, June 22nd.

However last night was the real celebration as the dealership invited hundreds of people from all over Northern Colorado to the spectacular new home of Mercedes-Benz for its official grand opening. During the festivities we got a chance to talk with the location's general manager, Trent Olinger. Olinger comes to Loveland from the Mercedes-Benz dealership in Westminster and has lived in Colorado most of his life. He told us that the Westminster store has seen continually increasing demand not only from Northern Colorado but also from states like Wyoming, Montana and South Dakota. Therefore they began running market tests about four years ago that confirmed their observations and lead to the decision to open the first Mercedes-Benz dealership in Northern Colorado.

The high demand from other neighboring states is actually one of the ways that the dealership distinguishes itself, service manager Brian Pickle explained. He said that the dealership will travel long distances into other states to pick-up vehicles so that they can be serviced at the dealership without an inconvenience to the customer. There is good reason for doing so as Mercedes-Benz of Loveland has hand picked experienced technicians and managers for the service department from all over the country to work at the new store.

So far Trent Olinger says that since the opening of the dealership, things have been terrific with an even greater than expected welcome to the community. They hoped to have around 150 attendees at the grand opening last night but ended up with almost 400 RSVPs. Before the night was over, Olinger presented the Poudre Valley Hospital and Medical Center of the Rockies Foundation with a check for $2,500 in appreciation for the community's outpouring of support.
