Man Killed by Train in Old Town
Linden Street in Old Town Fort Collins was blocked off yesterday morning as police documented the death of a homeless man. He was apparently struck and killed by a freight train. Police reported the body found at 6:20am Wednesday, but believe he may have been hit sometime between 2 and 5am. Investigators say a passing train on the Union Pacific line may have struck the man and continued on unaware.
The man’s identity has not been officially released pending notification of his family. Other homeless men said the man had moved to Fort Collins from the Midwest this summer.
Anyone with information about the accident is encouraged to contact Fort Collins Police Services Officer Jeff Laguna at (970) 221-6555 or Crime Stoppers of Larimer County at (970) 221-6868.
