Loveland Police Officer Shot During Traffic Stop, Suspects Still at Large [UPDATED]
As of Monday afternoon, the Larimer County Crime Stoppers has upped the reward for info that leads to the arrest of the perpetrator(s).
A Loveland Police officer was shot last night while performing a traffic stop, he was taken to intensive care, but is expected to survive. The the car that had been pulled over was found abandoned, but police are still searching for the suspect(s) involved.
According to KMGH, the shooting happened near 17th Street and Wilson Avenue in Loveland at about 7:45 Sunday evening (March 2nd, 2014). Other officers responded when the officer radioed in that he’d been shot. He was taken to the hospital and police sent out 10,000 notification to look out for a blue Jeep Cherokee in the area.
The Jeep was found, abandoned, around 1AM near Aspen Drive and Taft Avenue, just a few miles from the where the shooting occurred.
Police are not sure how many people were in the car at the time of the shooting, nor do they have any descriptions of the suspect(s) inside, but they are working with mulitple agencies to track the down and bring them to justice.
