Let’s Make ‘National Family Day’ an Official Holiday – Brian’s Blog

I say it's time to salute, honor and protect the American family. It seems to be getting more and more difficult for families to get to spend time together in today's busy world so I have an idea. I would like to propose a national holiday to spend time with your family with no distractions. I would like stores to be closed, cell phones put in a drawer and be forced to do something together.

We used to have these kind of days on Thanksgiving and Christmas but for some reason society has decided that stores need to be open and we need to shop on these days. I would love for all the stores to be closed and everyone have the day off. There would be nothing open and we would be forced to do things with each other. We would go outside and play or watch movies or play games or some other family fun. I love the idea. I grew up in a time when all stores were closed on Sunday's and we would always have a fun family day.

People are spending so much time online and at work and we forget to spend time with the ones that really matter. I would love for us to be forced, for one day, to find something to do that doesn't involve work or commerce. If elected to office I promise one of my first acts will be to make National Family Day an official holiday, until then, pick a day and focus on your family and give them all of you.
