Keensburg’s Wild Animal Sanctuary Rescues 5 Grizzly Bears
Bears should be hibernating in the winter, but 5 grizzlies have been moved to
Keensburg, Colorado. The Wild Animal Sanctuary rescued the bears from a roadside zoo that was shut down in Wisconsin.
‘The Wild Animal Sanctuary’s mission is to rescue and provide life-long homes for large exotic and endangered captive wild animals, and to educate the public about the causes of, and solutions to America’s captive wildlife crisis.’
The sanctuary usually does not take in bears during their hibernation period, but the five bears would have to be euthanized if the sanctuary did not step in to help. In perusing their website, I was in awe of this amazing rescue facility, especially the Mile Into The Wild Walkway. One of my goals this year is to visit TWAS.
