There are those times in a parent's lives when their kids do something that proves they actually do listen and pay attention once in awhile.  Today was one of those days for me and another proud Dad moment all because of a shirt.

Here is how the conversation with my 13 year old son Cade went this morning:

Cade:  DAAAAAAD, do I have a clean red shirt. (hollered from the other side of our home.)

Me:  Yes, I have one in the dryer for you, why?

Cade:  Serious?  It's Red Shirts Friday!

Me:  Dude, you rule!

Once I wiped the small tears from my eye I got up and gave him a big manly hug.  He is 13 so my hugs have to be manly these days but hey, he still lest me hug him so I don't mind.

What is Red Shirts Friday?

Red Shirts Friday is a group who had an idea that anyone can do to show support for those in the military.  It's a simple idea and a simple thing all of us can do, every Friday.

The mission of RedShirtFridays.org is to show support for our servicemen and servicewomen. We are not a political organization. We do not care whether or not one supports or does not support our nation’s specific military missions. We care only about making our support of our servicemen and servicewomen known to our fellow Americans and the world. We are a silent majority that does not wish to remain silent anymore. We wish to let our servicemen and servicewomen know we support their sacrifice and that we will not forget them; we will do this by wearing red every Friday.

It's just that easy.  If you want to show your support for our servicemen and servicewomen it's as simple as wearing a red shirt on Friday's.  It's an easy and a good habit to get into and when people ask why you wear a red shirt every Friday...tell them.
