Is There Hepatitis in Your Berries: If You Buy Frozen Berries You Could be at Risk

If you’re into the smoothie craze for diet or taste these days the likelihood that you have tainted berries could be high. The Denver Channel is reporting this afternoon that packages of Townsend Farms Organic Antioxidant Blend frozen berries are the suspected cause of a hepatitis A outbreak that includes 5 cases in Colorado.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment encourage you to seek a consult with your doctor if you have eaten the berries in the past two weeks. If you have any of the fruit in your freezer it is advisable that you throw them away.

The berries have been purchased from Costco

Hepatitis A is highly contagious that causes inflammation that affects your liver’s ability to function.
