Headlights in the Drive Thru: MY RANT
There are rules to life that we all follow everyday. Simple, common sense rules that are governed by, well, common sense. Like holding a door at the store for those who are steps behind you, not taking 40 items into the 15 item express lane or robbing a bank. We just don't do it...we are a civilized society. So why am I SO upset over what happened to me last night!
I was on my way home from work and had some errands to run so I thought I would pop into a "fast food" establishment for something nourishing to take home.
I am already tired, 7 deep in line and the line is not moving at all. 5 minutes roll by so I am already getting what you might call a "tad" agitated when a truck pulls up behind me.
The truck wasn't the issue; it was the headlights!
I was taught way back when, around 17 years of age, some "respectful road rules" to live by.
Don't drive on the sidewalk for example or burnouts at a red light on a Friday night in La Junta with a squad car directly behind you or doing reverse roll burnouts in front of your girlfriends house and turning your head lights off in a drive thru which was the first thing I did by the way and always do.
It's common courtesy and respect man!
So this truck rolls up behind me {did I mention I had already been in line with no movement for 5 minutes?} and there we sit for another 10 minutes before the line starts to creep. So I adjusted my mirrors as the "spots" started setting in.
I always enjoy adjusting my mirrors outward in hopes of blinding the driver behind me with their own headlights
All in all I sat there almost 30 minutes for $5.76 worth of goodness while avoiding blindness and/or a half hour of seeing spots.
Here's the moral of my story: If your behind me in a drive thru, PLEASE, TURN OFF YOUR HEADLIGHTS!
Author's Sidebar: I wonder how many people who actually read this story will remember this the next time they pull through a drive thru at night and just start laughing but then feel so guilty they turn their headlights off. Feel free to share your "guilty" stories!
