They are older than the country itself. The United States Army, protecting our borders, constitution and flag since 1775.  Recently, the Army has suffered more casualties overseas than any other branch of the military so today, on Flag Day, make sure to thank the Army Veteran in your life.

The United States Army is the main branch of the United States Armed Forces responsible for land-based military operations. It is the largest and oldest established branch of the U.S. military, and is one of seven U.S. uniformed services.

The modern army has its roots in the Continental Army which was formed on the 14th day of June in 1775 to meet the demands of the American Revolutionary War before the establishment of the United States in 1776.

The Congress of the Confederation officially created the United States Army on June 3rd,1784, after the end of the Revolutionary War to replace the then disbanded Continental Army.

The Army is a military service within the Department of the Army, one of the three military departments of the Department of Defense. The United States Army has over a half million soldiers with the Army National Guard reporting over 350,000 and the United States Army Reserve just over 200,000 putting the combined strength of the Army at well over 1 million soldiers. 27,801 soldiers
