Every afternoon I look forward to seeing what our D Dennison is coming up for her daily Recipe Rescue. As I was sitting in the K99 studio today I realized that there probably wouldn't be a recipe today since I am acting as D. That is when I decided to do my own recipe. My favorite thing to munch on since I can remember... Grandma Dorothy's Sugar Cookies.

The other catch was I had no idea how the recipe went. So I decided I would put my grandma on the phone and ask her to email it to me. She laughed and said it wasn't on a computer, and before I could even grab a pen she was spouting the recipe off by memory. She did warn me to warn you that she doesn't always measure, so these measurements are just a guess, and you may have to play with it a bit.

What You'll Need

  • 2 Cubes of butter
  • 1 Cup Vegetable oil
  • 1 Cup granulated sugar
  • 1 Cup powdered sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 Teaspoon salt
  • 1 Teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 Teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 4 Cups flour

Putting It All Together

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine butter, eggs, and both sugars in a large mixing bowl. Add the eggs and vanilla until well mixed. Add salt, baking soda, and cream of tartar. Slowly add flour until all mixed.

Make into walnut sized balls and place on a baking sheet. Cover the bottom of a glass with sugar and lightly flatten each cookie.

Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown.

ENJOY!!
