This morning, thousands of Larimer County workers were forced to stay home from work, as the Federal Government shut down.

Congress could not come to an agreement on a spending bill that threatened to de-fund the Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. Obamacare); so many federal offices were forced to close their doors until a compromise can be reached.

Around 2,600 Federal workers in Larimer County are now out of work.

The government shutdown’s impact was felt immediately in Larimer County, as Rocky Mountain National Park closed Trail Ridge Road and locked the park gates, shutting off one of only two ways into flood-ravaged Estes Park. Backpackers deep in the park were being given two days to leave, and a small contingent of rangers remained on duty to monitor the area.

President Obama gave a public address today to talk about the situation, as well as what led us to this point.  You can watch it below.

How long do you think this shutdown will last?  Let us know in the comments.
