Galena Fire West of Horsetooth Reservoir 45% Contained

I can still see the smoke from my house in West Fort Collins and have heard helicopters working all morning long. The Galena Fire west of Horsetooth Reservoir is 45% contained and is still estimated at 750 to 1,000 acres. According to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Department, one of the goals is to get a more accurate acreage count and map the fire area on the west boundary.
Larimer County residents will continue to see active flames and tree torching. Winds are expected to increase this afternoon which will result in lots of smoke in the Fort Collins area.
Last night all evacuations for the fire were lifted. All residents who have returned home are still on pre-evacuation alert. South Bay, Inlet Bay, Lory State Park and Horsetooth Mountain Park remain closed.
