Back in February, a federal judge granted women the right to legally go topless in the city of Fort Collins. While many deemed this decision a win for equal rights, the lack of enforcement on public nudity has plenty of others up in arms. So much so, that the city itself is now planning to challenge the recent injunction in court. Attorneys notified a federal appeals court on March 21, letting them know that Fort Collins wants to fight to keep the original law in place – meaning women would not be permitted to go topless within the city after all. The city's main arguments are that the ordinance is needed both to maintain public order and to protect children. Several other Colorado cities, including Denver, already allow women to be topless in public.
