This inaugural event, Camp Braveheart, is the brainchild of a group of people set out to piece together some of the confusion, loneliness and despair left behind when a young person loses their brother or sister.

As adults, the loss of a child is astronomical and we get together with like families to be reminded that we're not alone and we can still make a difference in this world. But for our children, sometimes they can get lost.

Children will try to fill the void and get their parents attention, as parents will likely be getting much of the attention themselves the children, depending on their age can and may act out. They will often feel like the world, their friends and life have just past them by. Some will wish it had been them, some will be trapped in anger and others will sit in silence. It's important that our children know that they aren't alone, that there are other children that have lost their siblings and that everything they're feeling is normal.

Camp Braveheart will be a day of hope for kids aged six through 18. It will be held at Tamasag, 56 peaceful acres near the Poudre River. The day, July 18, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. will be filled with arts, music, nature and reflection.

It is our hope that the children will have a chance to share their stories with other children, connecting with others who have been through similar situations and have had like losses. The vision is that the children will find a peace of mind, friendships and hope as they move forward in a world that seemingly feels to have, in many ways, stopped the day they lost their sibling. We hope that they will leave Camp Braveheart with more skills to cope with their day to day trials and with a renewed sense of self.

As many of you know, I am the Vice President on the board of 3Hopeful Hearts and back their/our approach to healing. As a grieving mother, I know that the healing part is a lifelong journey, but as a child, life long just got a new definition and they need this, they need our help. Please pass the word to your friends and co-workers, through community, anything is possible.

Register for the camp or just find out more now. And thank you
