The Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles is in the process of correcting a mistake that led to several duplicate license plates being issued. According to 9 News, a number of plates beginning in RA and RB were issued due to an oversight and staffers not double checking a database before plates were printed. They have already destroyed the duplicate plates that are still in their possession and are actively working to issue new plates to the motorists that were issued duplicates.

The issue came to light when a motorist who was never charged for her Express Toll trips contacted the company responsible for billing. It turns out, that the driver's trips were getting charged to another driver who had an Express Toll pass and the exact same license plate.
