Yes, they were girls. They were also hippies. I am, too. I didn't bat an eye at it.

Make-up is one. Shaving legs is another.

Yes, shaved legs look better than non-shaved legs. However, it's some seriously powerful brainwashing that has made half of the population that they need to scrape their body with sharp metal a few times per week in order to be appealing to society.

When did it start? Well, the Internet has a few answers for that.

One article pointed to another piece of work from 1982 that looked into modern body hair customs.

Regardless of when and where is started, if I were a woman, these are two things that would most likely find their way on to the list of things that society thinks are good ideas that I don't follow.

Hey, every once in a while for a nice dress or outing? Sure, I'd do it. But all the time? Doubtful.
