Did you see the Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the Rockefeller Center, I didn't. But who knew Darius Rucker would be called racist for singing it because it has the word "white" in it.

I was listening to a sports show on the radio the morning of the event and the host had Darius Rucker on the show. It was a great segment and they talked about what songs he was going to sing, the traditional classic White Christmas, being one of them.

As it turns out, that same evening, there was a protest around the corner regarding the choking death of Eric Garner by a NYPD officer back in July. So, the big uproar now is that he sang the song and therefore must be racist because the song has "white" in the title.  (Read the whole story here)

From Twitter:

Darius Rucker is singing "White Christmas" on my television. Sooo many layers of wrong.

The irony of watching Darius Rucker singing "White Christmas" around the corner from the #EricGarner protest is mind-blowing.

Are you serious? Even the tin man from the Wizard of Oz knows the title refers to SNOW, hence White Christmas. Good lord...when will this madness stop? I also wonder if his critics realize he is a black man. Does one really think a black man would sing a racist song?

I just want to pull my hair out...STOP THE RACISM MADNESS!  Can't we all just hug and get along?

PS - The song was well received by those with a brain and Darius Rucker was rewarded with a standing ovation.
