Looking at social media Thursday my feeds are loaded with an apology video from a 'star' who made comments that came across as racist, my question, can you really ever recover from comments like this?

I'm sorry doesn't fix everything. In fact, I've learned that it rarely fixes anything. Oh, you can say I'm sorry, but the sting of your actions or words will linger in whomever you offended. Sorry, but that is the cold hard truth.

When we talk about apologies and couple them with racist comments, well in my opinion, that is a whole different layer of the 'you shouldn't go there cake'.

Let's look at the whole thing that has me in a roar over apologies. E!'s Giuliana Rancic made comments on the post Oscar's Red Carpet Fashion Police show about Disney star Zendaya. Rancic spoke in a manner that could be taken a couple of ways, but when one of those ways is racism, well, racism will and does trump all meanings.

HERE'S A RECAP OF THE WHOLE RANCIC AND ZENDAYA ORDEAL

Now I don't know if it's your deal or not, from E! to the Fashion Police, but really that isn't at the heart of what I feel anyway. I just want to know how an apology like this per-scripted garbage comes across as genuine to anyone. Apologies are hard, I get it, but this is being toted as this heart felt and amazing apology, I'm not buying it.

When a person does something or says something wrong, it is good to get an apology, but let's collectively work together to improve how we treat ourselves, our families and our communities. Lessen the need for an apology, that's the best way to say sorry. As my mother used to say to me, "Dede, don't tell me you're sorry, show me!"

And that is the end of my rant... thank you for hanging in there with me. How do you feel, can someone really recover from racist comments, intended or not?
