Let me first state that I don't have a racist bone in my body; I wasn't raised that way but I was raised to know right from wrong and having to earn the things you got in life.  It's true that this great country was largely built on immigration but it was "legal" immigration from those who came in through the front door.

The University of Colorado regents have voted 5-4 to support a bill in the Legislature that would give illegal immigrants a tuition rate lower than the out-of-state rate and a bit higher than the in-state rate.

Regent Tillie Bishop, a Republican from Grand Junction, joined with Democrats on the board to support the bill. The other four Republicans voted against the resolution. Regents Steve Bosley of Longmont and Jim Geddes of Sedalia said CU shouldn't take a position until after the Legislature decides.  A committee in the Democratic-controlled Senate gave initial approval to the bill last week, and it's expected to pass the full Senate.

On a brighter note there was some common sense in attendance:

Sens. Michael Johnston, D-Denver and Angela Giron, D-Pueblo want to include a new provision allowing individual colleges and universities to opt out of offering the lower tuition rate for undocumented students.

Words being used here like "Illegal Immigrants" and "Undocumented Students" just makes me wonder how this is possible!

I'm ALL for one trying to better themselves and their lifestyle but we have all been raised in the United States based on certain principles and you get what you earn; it's not just given to you.

I am the first to admit I am no scholar and trying to understand how it's even possible for an illegal immigrant to enroll in college?   What's the point of having a border and using words like "illegal" and "US Citizen?"

My own daughter is trying to find money for college and she was born here and has lived here all her life. She pays into social security, medicare etc. AND pays taxes to our Federal Government yet trying to get tuition and loans is like pulling teeth for a "legal" citizen.  How is this possible?

I was under the assumption that illegal immigrants were given a ticket back home; not college tuition!

Here's my deal: I don't care what country your from, what color your skin is or how you spell your last name, if you're not here legally y0u are NOT entitled to the same thing I am.  I'm sorry! When my own daughter, a naturally born U.S. Citizen, faces the possibility of not attending college due to lack of financing/loans/grants etc. but an undocumented illegal immigrant can...I have problems with that!

If there are those want to come to our country to better themselves I am all for it but please knock on the front door vs. sneaking in the back door.  If I had to move to another country because it offered me a better chance in life I would be grateful for that chance and would be respectful to learn the ways of that country; I wouldn't expect them to cater to me.

Tell me where I'm wrong...
