Colorado State University has scheduled a press conference today to reveal their new head football coach. The Tuscaloosa (Ala.) News is reporting that University of Alabama offensive coordinator Jim McElwain is the Rams' choice to replace Steve Fairchild.

New CSU athletic director Jack Graham fired Fairchild the day after the Rams lost to the University of Wyoming.  The Rams had finished 3-9 for three consecutive seasons.  Fairchild was 16-33 in four seasons at Colorado State.

McElwain has played a big part in an Alabama program that has gone 47-6 in his time there, including one national championship. The Crimson tied is also playing for another national title this year in the BCS title game in January against LSU.   McElwain is finishing his third season as Alabama's offense coordinator.  Alabama has averaged 36 points and 433 total yards per game this season.

The press conference today is scheduled for noon at CSU's indoor practice facility.
