"When fish hear my name they tremble" has always been one of my favorite shirts. If one of your favorite places to scare fish is Poudre Ponds you need to know this.

Just North of F St. on 35th Avenue along the Poudre river in Greeley you'll find one of the newest recreational areas for the City of Greeley, the Poudre Ponds and Poudre Ponds Recreational Fishery. The area which is monitored by Colorado Parks and Wildlife used to be a gravel mine site but has since been transformed into a fantastic nature area with lots of bike trails and of course fishing.

If you do fish the Poudre Ponds, you need to know that the Department of Natural Resources have changed the regulation minimum size for keeping Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass. The change goes into effect April 1 and fish must be at least15 inches in length.

We tend to have a lot of people fishing at Poudre Ponds and the regulation change is in response to user feedback - Sarah Boyd, City of Greeley Parks Planner

Boats are still allowed as long as they are under 17 feet and no gas motors are allowed. For additional information about state and local regulations, places to fish, and licensing information, just click here.
