A 21-year-old Cheyenne man accused of shooting and killing his roommate has waived his right to a speedy preliminary hearing.

Cody Hess is charged with second-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter in the Nov. 14 death of 35-year-old Michael Robbins.

According to Laramie County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Capt. Linda Gesell, Hess shot Robbins three times with a 9mm handgun after Robbins reportedly came home drunk and the two got into an argument.

Hess is free on a $5,000 cash/surety bond, which was posted on Nov. 17. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 6 in Laramie County Circuit Court.
