The CBR 'Championship Bull Riding' Cinch Tour Finale presented by Carl's Jr. is scheduled for Saturday, September 24th at the Bud Events Center in Loveland (click for tickets). The CBR spent two days at Cheyenne Frontier Days, where rider Ardie Maier provided some tense moments for fans and medical staff after being thrown and trampled. Good news! Maier is out of the hospital and on the mend.

Maier has two transverse process fractures in his lumbar spine, broken ribs and a bruised lung. The injury happened in the final round of competition. He was riding the bull named Luca Brasi owned by Brad Vogele. Maier came off shortly after the bull left the chute and landed on the ground. The bull was still bucking and came down with both back feet on Maier’s back. Justin Sportsmedicine personnel were immediately on the scene. “I thought I’d ripped my insides open,” Maier said. “It felt like someone was stabbing me. I’m just thankful it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.” A full recovery is expected and Maier is hopeful he will be back in the rodeo arena in September at the Justin Boots Playoffs in Puyallup, Wash.
