UPDATE: The 25-year-old female rafter pulled from the Cache la Poudre River in the Poudre Canyon this afternoon was pronounced dead at the hospital.The identity of the woman and the manner of her death are being withheld until the family can be notified. The names, ages and hometowns of her companions were not available.

In a press release from the Larimer County Sheriff's Office, we're told that Larimer County Emergency Services and the Larimer County Dive Rescue Team were dispatched to assist.rescuers to investigate an overturned raft that had been seen in the Poudre River in the 13000 block of the Poudre Canyon, west of Ft. Collins in Larimer County. The area is near Mishawaka.

Just over 15 minutes after the first call, witnesses reported a rafter was in the river who appeared to be unconscious. Shortly after, an unconscious female rafter was pulled from the river by rescuers in the 10000 block of the Poudre Canyon, near Columbine Lodge.

An air ambulance had been called to the scene and the victim was airlifted to a local hospital.

The Cache la Poudre, as well as the St. Vrain River and Boulder Creek, are all reporting extremely high water levels due to the runoff from mountain snow melt.
