If we’re honest, we’ve probably all caught ourselves bemoaning the future of this or that, whether our critiques are directed at a genre of music, politics or even an entire generation. While many veteran artists often become the biggest naysayers for the future of their beloved genres as soon as they’re taken over by a ton of “kids,” Merle Haggard doesn’t buy all that. In a recent interview with the Corpus Christi Caller-Times, Haggard said he thinks things in the country music realm are on the up.
Zac Brown may have his own band, but that’s just one portion of the star’s entrepreneurial ventures — 1/12 to be exact. Brown helps operate a dozen companies, though he is quick to say he does it “with a lot of help of other people.” But the serial entrepreneur has one endeavor that seems to be taking up more of his time lately, and that’s his non-profit camp Camp Southern Ground, which will be open to campers come 2014.
While both Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks are highly celebrated names in country music, they’re also parents, which does more to dictate their schedule at the moment than audience demand. However, with their youngest daughter set to graduate high school in 2014, the couple are starting to let themselves dream about life as empty-nesters.
Eli Young Band have literally seen their career catapult onto center stage in the past few months. After their single ‘Crazy Girl’ became their first No.1 hit, the four-man country outfit snagged an ACM Award for Song of the Year with the same smash hit, making an underdog story to be remembered. But even in the face of so many great things at once, the guys are not about to forget who it was that helped them get to this point.
We’ve seen a good bit of Keith Urban lately, what with his recent No. 1 single ‘You Gonna Fly,’ his surprise induction into the Grand Ole Opry and his role as a celebrity coach on the Australian version of ‘The Voice.’ But one thing most of Urban’s fans might not know is that between all of the appearances, the singer is also hard at work on his next record.
It has seriously been a good year for Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton. The two have not only netted more awards than they can likely count but they were also both recognized just for being strikingly good-looking by People magazine. After Shelton was crowned Country Music’s Hottest Guy by People Country, his stunning wife just landed in People’s most beautiful women of 2012 issue.
Carrie Underwood is no stranger to the road, and as such she’s become quite the pro at making it a comfortable and warm place to be. While she does have to spend much of her waking and sleeping time on a tour bus, Underwood recently opened up about her Top 5 touring must-haves.
As classic films like ‘Footloose’ and ‘Dirty Dancing’ come rolling off the line in updated versions (with characters who weren’t born when the originals were made), some are wondering if ‘Grease’ might be up next for a remake. The 1978 film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John seems to have all the trappings of a love story just ready for a facelift. And John says she knows exactly who would be the best person to fill her dancing shoes as Sandy: Taylor Swift.
Lady Antebellum know a thing or two about experiencing the perfect day. That’s not to say that everything always works out for them, but they’ve had some pretty stellar days in the past couple of years, what with Grammy Awards, sold out tours and even a couple weddings within the band. In honor of those larger-than-life days, the band just released a new music video to their song ‘Perfect Day’ from 2010′s ‘Need You Now.’
Brad Paisley made an appearance on ‘South Park’ Wednesday night (April 25) — sort of. Paisley’s voice was intertwined with a cartoon version of himself, and it was about as hilarious as you would imagine.
Miranda Lambert hails from the Dallas suburb of Lindale, Texas, which is in Cowboy country when it comes to the NFL. Even if she were to go south a bit, we would expect Lambert to be pulling for the Houston Texans. But now, strangely, the ‘Over You’ singer is actually a shareholder of Wisconsin’s Green Bay Packers. We wonder if this will get the southern gal on her feet rooting for a team from the north.
The four celebrity judges for ABC’s upcoming show ‘Duets‘ — Sugarland‘s Jennifer Nettles, Kelly Clarkson, Lionel Richie and Robin Thicke — have all been scouring the country for dueting partners that they think can stand the heat of the spotlight. And while Kelly Clarkson recently pulled a couple of her top picks on stage with her at a San Diego show, we got a glimpse of a couple videos shot at Nettles’ auditions in Las Vegas.
