Are There Really Only 5 Americans in NOCO?

Granted I didn’t drive all of NOCO this morning, but I was around a bit and I can’t believe that not counting mine, I only saw 4 of these. Hello, today is June 14, 2013.

JUNE 14 IS FLAG DAY! (From the National Flag Day Foundation)

Our mission is to carry on the tradition of the first flag day observance. On June 14th, 1885, Bernard J. Cigrand, a 19 year old teacher at Stony Hill School, placed a 10 inch, 38- star flag in a bottle on his desk then assigned essays on the flag and its significance. This observance, commemorated Congresses adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777. This observance was also the beginning of Cigrand’s long years of fervent and devoted effort to bring about national recognition and observance of Flag Day. The crowning achievement of his life came at age fifty when President Wilson, on May 30, 1916, issued a proclamation calling for a nation wide observance of Flag Day. Then in 1949, President Truman signed an Act Of Congress designating the 14th day of June every year as National Flag Day. On June 14th, 2004, the 108th U.S. Congress voted unanimously on H.R. 662 that Flag Day originated in Ozaukee County, Waubeka Wisconsin.

On my travels this morning, I saw three (3) houses with American flags waving in the wind and two, (2) motorcycles… that’s it, that’s all. I told my Digital manager this and he said, “What’s today”? REALLY????? Oh, but don’t think that he is alone, the front office guy, the one that gives you your prizes when you come to our studios, Josh, he said “What’s the big deal”? I looked at him, the way I can sometimes look and said, “REALLY”???????

There are a few podiums that I will stand on and rant and rave till I’ve talked myself blue in the face, they are Stupid Drivers, Fate and American Pride. It doesn’t matter which animal you are… donkey, elephant or a crossbreed of the two, we are ALL Americans and should feel privileged to show our Pride. This country may at times seem to have let you down and you may not understand the rules to the rules to the question with no answers, but it IS the best place on Earth.

When I see the flag waving in the wind, I get goosebumps. This morning when I pulled old Glory out and walked to the flag post on our porch I was as proud as an Eagle soaring high above this great land. I think less of the politicians than I do of soldiers that keep us free. We are able to do so many things that we take for granted everyday. We don’t always mean to, but we do. It’s hard to imagine not being able to own a home, go to the farmers market or drink feces free water. We are allowed to have our own children whether that be 1 or 19 and we are free to raise them fearing God and worshiping the land. Without our soldiers this would not be possible, if you think that I am exaggerating try living somewhere else. God Bless our soldiers… God Bless our Flag…

And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave. -National Anthem
