12-Year-Old Boy Shot in Weld County

Deputies are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday in Weld County.

According to a press release from the Weld county Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 29000 block of WCR 20 (southeast of Longmont) at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival, they found a 12-year-old boy had been shot in the side by a .22 caliber bullet.

The unidentified boy was rushed to Children's Hospital in Aurora for treatment.

Investigators are working to determine the exact cause of the incident, and additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
