Sports will return after the COVID-19 crisis. When it does, we'll be able to bet on those sports in Black Hawk, or by using an app on our phones.

I don't do it often but I have had fun being in Las Vegas and stopping into the Westgate to make a wager in their 30,000 square-foot 'SuperBook' SportsBook. I think the last bet I made was on the Broncos returning to the Super Bowl in 2018.

I did not win.

9News has the story on how The Lodge Casino will hold the second Westgate SportsBook, once we are all able to get out again. This would be the first expansion of the Westgate's sportsbook outside of Nevada.

I think it would be a fun day-trip to get up to Black Hawk, make a bet on the Rockies (or whomever) and hangout to watch the game.

The vice president of the SportsBook in Las Vegas and the one who's in charge of the Colorado project is a Colorado State graduate and Colorado native. It's a 'win-win,' if you will.

The big difference between the Colorado SportsBook and the Vegas one, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, is that we can make bets using apps on our phones; that is not legal in Las Vegas, it HAS to be done in person.

They had been hoping to open in the summer of 2020, but due to COVID-19, it may be opening later in the year.
