The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to introduce K-9 ‘Ryker’ who has joined handler Deputy Aaron Hulme as the newest dog on the K-9 team. Ryker is a 14-month-old male German Shepherd from the Netherlands and has only been in the United States for two months. He was selected from among 15 dogs that were tested by Deputy Hulme and other members of the K-9 team in Indiana.

Deputy Aaron Hulme has been with the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office since 2008 and has been a member of the K-9 team for about two and half years as an agitator. An agitator wears a padded protective suit and is used in training dogs how to correctly attack a suspect.

Deputy Hulme and Ryker will attend an eight-week training academy conducted locally by Sergeant Joe Shellhammer and Corporal Jackie Knudsen of the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office and Officer Rod Bretches of the Loveland Police Department.

Deputy Hulme and Ryker join Corporal Jackie Knudsen and Grendel, Deputy Dave Feyen and Arco and Deputy Kevin Kingston and Oso on the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office K-9 team.
