Windsor Veteran Gets Super Bowl Tickets From Unusual Source

When it comes to the Super Bowl, there always seems to be something new and special each time the big game rolls around.

However, another factor that might not be talked about as much is the idea of football being a truly American game.

It’s sort of like baseball in the sense that it was created right here on our soil. Unlike baseball, it feels like something the rest of the world hasn’t caught on to just yet.

Recently, a veteran who hails from Windsor, Colorado was honored. However, the source of which is quite surprising.

Staff Sgt. John Jones From Windsor, Colorado Gifted Super Bowl Tickets from Miami Dolphins Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa

In a roundabout way, a veteran from Windsor, Staff Sergeant John Jones, has received Super Bowl tickets from the quarterback from the Miami Dolphins, Tua Tagovailoa.

According to KDVR, Tua’s gift was a part of the NFL’s program called Salute to Service, where players from across the league show their support of our armed forces.

The program’s website notes that the NFL has raised over $66 million towards Salute to Service partners since 2011.

Staff Sergeant John Jones Has Had an Illustrious Career in the Armed Forces

Staff Sergeant John Jones has had quite the story. He has been deployed in Yemen, Iraq, Spain Germany, Bahrain, Japan, and Thailand.

However, he lost both of his legs in 2005 while on duty, when his team’s vehicle was destroyed by an anti-tank mine.

He has since rehabilitated and now walks with two prosthetic legs.

According to KDVR, he has received a Purple Heart, Navy Commendation Medal with valor, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and three Good Conduct medals over his illustrious military career.

Jones is huge San Francisco 49ers fan, and will be going to see them play in the big game with his brother, Michael.

Not only will Tagovailoa be giving them tickets, but he will also meet them both before Super Bowl LVIII takes place.
