Northern Colorado is being watched by the FBI from above...and one city in particular happens to have more surveillance over them than others.

BuzzFeed shared an article recently about government surveillance planes with the FBI and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) circling over most major cities to scope out the whereabouts and happenings of individual suspects in any given part of the country in order to combat illegal drug trade, human trafficking, and violent crime.

While the FBI and DHS would not tell BuzzFeed about individual cases, they did say the planes are not conducting mass surveillance, and investigations are also not based on race, ethnicity, or religion.

BuzzFeed's article focuses mostly on cases such as the San Bernardino shooting and other like cases, however, a quick zoom-out of their map and zoom-in to Northern Colorado reveals the most watched-over city in our community is Greeley.

Why? We don't know. But if you look at Denver on the original map, it's far more watched-over than Greeley is, and many other smaller areas throughout the United States are also being watched over by government surveillance planes, which are equipped with a muffler to reduce engine noise, steerable high-resolution cameras, and cell phone tracking technology.

As you can see in the map above, the large circles over the Greeley area show FBI planes' trails between August 17, 2015, and December 30, 2015. To see a more interactive map and read more about the FBI and DHS planes' surveillance over our community, read the original article HERE.
