Living in the south for a few years, there are just some things to be thankful for when moving back to Colorado. Like not having to wonder if there are six-foot-long lizards with ominous-looking teeth and a 300 pound per square inch biting force.

I'll admit it, gators kind of freaked me out a bit, but they did also fascinate me. Oh, gator happens to be quite tasty too. If you have ever had the opportunity to try alligator tail, you know what I am talking about.

What Does Alligator Taste Like?

When the alligator tail is in its raw form, it appears to be a cross between a chicken breast and a fillet of mahi-mahi. After the meat is seasoned and fried, it has a white and almost flaky texture to the meat.

Some say alligator tail tastes like chicken while others say the flavor more represents quail. Other parts of the gator can be compared to pork. I can't comment on these cuts of a gator simply because I have never had them before.
