The alert rang loud on our phones at 7 a.m. this morning with an order from Colorado Governor Jared Polis himself: Colorado is now under a stay-at-home order. This means that several businesses not seen as "essential" must close. Activities not seen as "essential" must cease.

There seems to be a lot of confusion for businesses not specifically listed in the order's outline. For instance, my sister had a hard time figuring out if her landscaping company could continue doing work for clients. Certain counties consider gun stores as essential for ranchers, but not others.

The Denver Channel listed a few more businesses that would remain open, but no list seems to be complete.

There are also lots of questions about citizens' First Amendment rights showing up in comments regarding the order. No doubt, things are very different now than they were only a week ago, and the way ahead is one that we'll need to feel out as we go.
