Gawain Jay Roberts of Fort Collins will soon be arrested by Loveland police on sex crime charges- sexual exploitation of a child and attempted sexual assault by someone in a position of trust. Roberts was, until these charges arose in October, an instructor at Ferguson High School. One of his female students who's 16, told school officials that Roberts, 35, had taken inappropriate pictures of her; school officials contacted the police right away.  Loveland Police obtained a search warrant for Robert's computers and cell phones, where they found pictures of other woman- many who appear to be underage; with that, officials are fearful that other students may have been assaulted, and are looking for the public's help.

From the Reporter-Herald:

Roberts was hired by the district in 2006 after passing a background check.

He taught at  Bill Reed Middle School his first year then transferred to the SOARS program -- Secondary Options for Achievement Resulting in Success. The alternative education program caters to juniors and seniors who were not successful in a traditional school setting. The program was based at the school district headquarters before moving to Ferguson High School last year.

If you have any information that may help this case, you are being asked to contact Loveland Police Detectives Brian Koopman (970) 962-2248 or Jeff Pyle (970) 962-2274.
