Are you tired of the hubbub surrounding Valentine's Day? Well, I've got good news for all the singletons out there: V-Day doesn't have to feel like you're being attacked by the in-love powers that be.  V-Day in Northern Colorado can be a lot of fun.

Thanks to events put on by local businesses, singles can also be celebrated this year. Here are our favorites that we recommend for you:

1. Wine Time

Where? The Drake Center in Fort Collins. When? February 15.

Wine Time is a big wine tasting event that is certainly not couples-only. In fact, last year attendees brought party buses full of friends and used their VIP tickets to engage in the champagne spree. You'll taste tons of varieties of wine and snobbery is NOT allowed. Our only recommendation? No matter how much wine you drink, no texting your ex.

2. 'Shred Your Ex' for Valentine's Day at The Starlite

Got a photo of your ex that you want out of the house? There's no greater catharsis than sending the one that left through the shredder, and that's what Starlite wants to offer you this Valentine's Day. For their annual party, the Starlite says:

SINGLE (OR NOT)? Let’s have some fun for Valentine’s Day! Feb 14, bring a pic of your ex to SHRED, then get FREE COVER!
“You need your ex’s photo --like you need a kidney stone.”

We concur.

3. Surfside 7's DeathDisco “Valentine’s Night for the Broken-Hearted & Friends”

Like dancing? How about pizza? Surfside 7 has it all this Valentine's Day, focusing on the broken-hearted in Fort Collins.

Listen to a DJ spin the best of tunes and maybe meet someone new under the dim lights of our favorite local punk bar.

4. Anti-Valentine's Day at the Sandbar

Hosted by our friends at the Grillhouse at Pelican Lakes, this event is truly for the single population of NoCo. The dress code? Black. The mood? Fun. The Grillhouse at Pelican Lakes describes their event as:

If you’re not into the whole Valentine’ Day thing, join us in the Sandbar February 14th from 6 P.M. to 10 P.M. Make sure to wear black and enjoy drink and food specials all night till we close.

Time to take that little black dress out of retirement.

5. Sugar Britches: Lonely Hearts Valentine's Dance

This event, happening at Prost Brewing in Fort Collins, promises sad songs, waltzes, and "wild rockabilly from the full sugar Britches band", so what could be better this Valentine's Day?

Bring your friends and revel in the sweet sweet freedom of singledom: you'll be glad you did.
