More federal workers are coming to Northern Colorado. The United States Department of Agriculture announced that it will be changing the way it operates.
USDA Announces Major Headquarters Restructure
The USDA has operated out of Washington, D.C., since its inception, but it will be changing that very soon. The USDA announced that it will no longer have a main headquarters. Instead, they will have five locations across the nation.
Fort Collins Selected as New USDA Hub
The USDA announced that one of those headquarters will be located in Fort Collins. Current federal workers of the USDA will be receiving relocation notices.

This means that many federal workers will be packing their bags and preparing to call Colorado home.
Why the USDA Is Changing Operations
According to Denver 7, the reason why the USDA will be relocating to five new locations across the country is that the USDA wants decision makers to be closer to farmers and agricultural workers.

Fort Collins Chamber Supports USDA Move
Denver 7's reporting also said that the Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce supports the major move. We are not sure how many federal workers from Washington D.C. will come to Colorado, but we do know that 2,600 federal workers will be split up to work at the five different hubs.
Where Else Is the USDA Expanding?
The other hubs will be located in North Carolina, Indiana, Utah, and Missouri. There is no word on when these federal employees will be relocating to Fort Collins or where they will be working. We will keep you updated as details continue to roll in.
