Many of us have wondered if we've already been infected by, and fought off, COVID-19. The antibody tests that allow you to know if you've been exposed are becoming more available. UCHealth has announced they are now offering antibody tests in Colorado for "anyone who wants to know if they have been exposed to COVID-19."

The antibody test is done via a blood draw. UCHealth is also offering the COVID-19 PCR test, which determines if you are currently sick with the virus. However, that test is done via a nasal swab.

If you are a patient of UCHealth, your provider can schedule these tests for you. If you are not a current patient, you can sign up for an account and schedule the tests yourself through My Health Connection.

The COVID-19 antibody test is $100. The PCR nasal swab test is $85. Most health insurance plans are covering the costs of testing, but it is always best to check with your provider.

UCHealth issued this statement about the tests and the information they can provide:

“Many people have been interested in getting antibody tested because they want to know if they have been exposed to COVID-19 or they want to know if they are possibly immune to COVID-19. Unfortunately, for now, the only thing we can tell you is that if you have antibodies, you have been exposed to COVID-19. We cannot tell you yet whether you are immune to it,” said UCHealth Chief Innovation Officer Richard Zane, M.D., who is also the professor and chair of emergency medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
