Trace Adkins to Host New GAC Series ‘Great American Heroes’
Trace Adkins is will continue to do his part in honoring our nations heroes by lending his time and face to the new GAC series, ‘Great American Heroes.’
In the show, which premieres on Wednesday (Aug. 22), Adkins takes time away from his nationwide Songs and Stories Tour to pay tribute to ordinary people doing extraordinary things within their local communities. The program will highlight the work of local champions in 10 communities over the next several weeks.
“A lot of people get attention for the wrong reasons but the true measure of a hero is serving others,” explains Adkins. “On ‘Great American Heroes,’ I will introduce the real people who fit that bill. They devote themselves to others and deserve all the applause we can give them. These heroes will inspire you, make your heart swell and your eyes tear up. This show does more than tell some good stories, it affirms our faith in others.”
Each week, three different story lines will be featured, narrated by Adkins. In the first episode, the singer meets a local minister in Salina, Kansas who started a carpentry shop to teach woodworking skills to homeless men. Another story, which takes place in Charleston, S.C., spotlights a 13-year-old girl who creates community vegetable gardens and donates the harvest to feed people in need. The episode’s final hero is a pair parents in Davenport, Iowa who develop programs for special needs children.
“‘Great American Heroes’ reflects the values and the lifestyles of real people who epitomize what ‘living country’ is all about,” says Sarah Trahern, Senior Vice President and General Manager of GAC. “The stories we’ll show will leave a lasting impression on GAC viewers.”
Look for ‘Great American Heroes’ to make its premiere on August 22 at 8PM ET on GAC. Episodes will re-air on Sunday nights in the same time slot.
